The spread of the coronavirus infection in Croatia continues to slow, with more than three hundred new cases a day, according to a report from the crisis team on Saturday.

The Croatian panel reports that the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 312 in the past 24 hours, reaching 9,861. A record 358 newly identified infections were reported on Wednesday, and the number of cases has not dropped below three hundred since then. . There were three new deaths, bringing the number of deaths in Croatia to 183. Of the patients, 211 are in hospital, twelve of them connected to a ventilator. The number of active patients is 2,654, the highest since the beginning of the epidemic. There are 9,148 people in official home quarantine, according to MTI.

Most of the new infections were still recorded in the counties of the capital Zagreb and Split-Dalmatia: the first was detected in 93 people and the second in 110 people.

The crisis team imposed new restrictions in Sibenik-Knin, Varazdin and Virovitica-Drava counties. The setting varies from county to county and is primarily concerned with limiting the number of participants in different events.

The crisis team said earlier this week that, to the extent possible, austerity measures would only be taken at the regional level, in places where epidemics are emerging. There will be no new national closures, the restrictions will affect smaller communities so that normal social and economic life can function, they stressed.

In neighboring Slovenia, the number of identified coronavirus infections rose by 37 to 2,834 on Friday, and 42 more cases were reported on Thursday, according to data released by the cabinet. There were no new deaths, leaving the death toll from the epidemic at 133 so far. Of the diagnosed patients, 23 are in the hospital and two of them are cared for in an intensive care unit.

From the end of April and the beginning of May, Zagreb and Ljubljana, with strict precautions, gradually lifted restrictions to revive the economy and opened their borders to citizens of various EU countries.
