According to the latest data, the number of recently confirmed coronavirus infections worldwide jumped to a new daily peak of 320,000 to 28.5 million, but the 7-day moving average remained at 270,000. Nearly a third of the daily number of cases can be attributed to India, and tens of thousands of cases have also been recorded in the United States and Brazil. Around 10,000 daily cases or more have also been reported in Argentina, Colombia, Spain and France.

Most report 6.5 million confirmed infections In the U.S the new number of cases in recent days shows large fluctuations, since the data is between 24 and 47 thousand, but the trend resulting from the 7-day moving average is definitely downward and is close to 35 thousand cases per day. Meanwhile, sadly, 193,000 people have already died from the infection, which is by far the highest number of cases in any country.

The second largest, with 4.6 million confirmed infections, is from the Far East. In India, the situation seems almost desperate to curb the epidemic., as its number of cases has already approached 100,000 people per day, so the moving average is also increasing steeply and has already exceeded 90 thousand. The death toll from the disease is officially 77,000. The situation has stabilized in Bangladesh, which is also densely populated, while the curve in Indonesia remains sharply upward, with around 4,000 new cases reported in recent days.

In the far east While the restrictive measures recently introduced in Japan and South Korea, meanwhile, the epidemic curve is sinking pleasantly, but it is noteworthy that the Philippines has headed north again after a rapid sinking.

The third most productive case is the South American In Brazil With large daily fluctuations, authorities still report around 40,000 new infections per day, but the moving average has now risen (expected to recede) due to the sudden decline in the number of cases in the previous days. The number of certified deaths due to the disease is 130,000. As can be seen in the figure, the epidemiological situation in Argentina is increasingly unfavorable: there are reported new certified cases of just over 10,000 days ago. In Chile and Peru, it seems that the outbreak of the epidemic has been detected. In Colombia, this is not yet clear, since the number of new cases per day fluctuates between 5 and 16 thousand.

In the middle east The news yesterday that Israel will be completely closed starting next week for weeks. The number of cases has increased from 2,000 per day to 3-4,000 per day. Meanwhile, according to official figures, Iran is keeping the epidemic under control, while the curve in Iraq increases and approaches 5,000 infections a day. Of note is the United Arab Emirates, where the daily number of cases suddenly jumped from 400 to 500 in late August to close to 1,000.

The main countries of Western Europe Among Spaniards, the epidemic is literally furious: the daily number of cases is between 9 and 26 thousand, so the 7-day moving average is already close to 10 thousand, which has already far exceeded the spring peak. The epidemic situation in France is only getting worse: the 7-day moving average is already approaching the peak of more than 8,000 in the spring, while in the case of Germans and Italians it fluctuates only around 1,500, although in the latter we see a rapid deterioration in the daily case. At the end of August, we saw another 1,300-1,700 new cases per day in the UK, which yesterday rose above 3,500, so the moving average also started to rise sharply. That is why more and more people in the island country are talking about the fact that limited social gatherings of 6 people will also be organized for the big family Christmas celebrations.

In the meantime In Belgium the spread of the epidemic has intensified again: the number of new cases between 200 and 500 a day a few days ago has suddenly risen to close to a thousand, and eerily similar figures can be seen in the Netherlands. In Denmark, which had previously produced few cases with exemplary discipline, the daily number of cases tripled in a few days from around 100.

the in northern European countries the spread of the epidemic was kept under control with few new cases per day.

Reviewing the previous charts

Rarely do we find such a rapid rise in the curves, as the graph below shows the epidemics of Hungary and the Czech Republic now in the second wave.

In the case of the Czechs, the number of recent cases is already close to 1,500 (Hungarian is 1,000), although a few days ago it only fluctuated between 500-700 (in Hungarians between 300-500). All this means that in the Czech Republic of almost 10 million, more new cases are found than in Romania, which has more than twice the population (around 1,300, a stagnant moving average) and the same number as in Germany, which has eight times the population.

Meanwhile, the 50 million in Ukraine yesterday had already surpassed 3,000 in the new number of cases, so the 7-day moving average is also steadily increasing. Notably, in our western neighbor Austria, from 200 to 400 new cases in the previous weeks, it suddenly jumped to 500-700 new infections daily, so the moving average is also climbing again.
