The 510 new cases set a new record again, with 459 on Thursday reporting the new peak. The epidemic is spreading rapidly and exponentially in Hungary, so we can probably see an even higher number of cases in the coming days. Therefore, it is very important to adhere to the current mild restrictive measures (such as the rules for the use of masks), because given the current rate of spread, it is not excluded that the epidemic will reach a level in the coming weeks that can only be slowed down with stricter measures.

Three chronic patients died, leaving a balance of 624. At first, it may seem surprising that the number of deaths is low in addition to the high rate of domestic infection, but as we noted earlier, there is a simple reason for this: the current average age of those infected is less than 30. in spring it was over 60. Unfortunately, we can expect the rapidly spreading epidemic to reach the elderly sooner or later, and with a few weeks of delay we will also see an increase in mortality.

The number of actively infected people was 3,316 in Hungary, 43% of those actively infected, 59% of the dead and 42% of those recovered were in Budapest. It is important to note that the number of active infected still shows a strong increase. It is worth noting that the following figure shows detected (and therefore isolated) active cases, presumably many times higher in society than those that are actively ill (and therefore infected) but not explored. In the exponential propagation phase, therefore, special attention must be paid, because now the picture we see from the official data may be particularly inaccurate.

The rate of spread of the second wave is well illustrated by the epidemic curve of all diseases, with a positive slope from the end of August.

Of the more than 8,000 tests performed, the majority were positive in Budapest, there were 209 patients in the last 24 hours and a total of 1,003 in the previous seven days. There were 93 patients in Pest County today, 324 in the previous week. It is worth talking about the county of Fejér, there are 35 there are 83 new patients in the last seven days. In the last 24 hours, 29 new patients were found in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county and 28 in Hajdú-Bihar county, while in the other counties the number was between 1 and 13.
