Today’s data shows that the coronavirus epidemic is spreading very fast in Hungary, which is not only due to the number of new diseases per day (as the epidemic is still unable to detect many cases), but also to the sharp increase in the hospital admissions and also the number of people on the ventilator.

The 2,291 days of newly confirmed infection represents the third highest number since the outbreak, and as shown in the figure above, the 7-day moving average of illness is increasing significantly.

The 43 new deaths per day are lower than those seen in the previous two days (47 and 63, respectively, the latest record), but can still be considered clearly high. Today’s youngest deceased is a 36-year-old man whose underlying illnesses include viral pneumonia and respiratory failure (which may have been caused by the coronavirus) include limb paralysis and alcohol dependence.

So far this month, more than 800 people have died from complications from the coronavirus, and over the next three days, the number of coronavirus-related deaths per month is likely to be between 900 and 1,000.

Even if we assume that some of the coronavirus patients would have died anyway (regardless of viral infection), we will already see a higher mortality rate in October than in October, which is around 10,000 in recent years.

After 10-20 deaths from coronavirus a day at the beginning of the month and 30-60 in the second half of the month, the really difficult period will be November, depending on the number of illnesses, people hospitalized and ventilated, as it is now stable between 40-60. the number of deaths per day and the continuation of the uptrend seems to be the most likely scenario.

The number of people hospitalized and ventilated has increased considerably in the last 24 hours. There are already 3,166 in the hospital, 275 more than the day before and 263 need ventilation, an increase of 20 people in one day. The hospital staff has never grown so large.

According to government statistics, the number of active infections (virus carriers only) has risen to more than 47,000, but the number of cases registered in the last 14 days is significantly different, so that 25,000 can be counted.

Almost 15,600 samples were taken in one day, with a positive test rate of 15%. It can be said that the number of samples has increased in the recent period compared to the previous daily test of around 10 thousand for a long time, however, the proportion of positive tests was at a particularly high level, which also indicates that the virus is spreading very fast in the country.

The cumulative number of cases from the past week is shown on the map below, which shows that the virus is present and is spreading across the country:

We can see a slightly different image in proportion to the population, the number of infected people per week per 100 thousand inhabitants is shown below:
