Coronavirus in Hungary: a small number of cases have arrived, but there is nothing surprising about this

The 823 new cases seem very small in light of previous days, but Tuesday’s data release is always characterized by a below-average number, and much less testing is likely over the weekend. As you can see, there are significant jumps in the number of cases, but the trend is slowly increasing at the moment.

The number of deaths in the previous 24 hours corresponds to the average number of deaths in the previous seven days, and here we have also seen a slight increase in the trend of the previous days. This has stalled a bit now, but it shouldn’t be shouted out just yet, unfortunately due to the increasing number of cases we cannot expect a significant drop in mortality data.

We are also seeing an increase in the number of hospitalized and ventilated patients, their number has also increased in the previous 24 hours: the number of hospitalized patients in 96 and the number of ventilated patients in 4 people.

In the previous 24 hours, a few 6227 tests were performed and the proportion of positive samples within the tests performed increased to 13%.

So far, 341,958 people have been vaccinated, of which 131,593 have already received their second vaccine, according to the report. According to this week’s vaccination schedule, vaccination of registered elderly will continue at hospital vaccination sites (with the Pfizer and Sputnik vaccines) and GPs will continue to vaccinate chronic patients under 60 years of age (with the AstraZeneca vaccine). Vaccination levels remain very low.

Additionally, vaccination teams will return to various nursing homes and second-round vaccination of healthcare workers will continue. Another shipment of Pfizer vaccine has arrived today, continuing the second round of vaccinating elderly and healthcare workers. The first shipment of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine is also expected to arrive this morning.
