The 581 confirmed daily infections are lower than last week’s average, but not yet breaking the uptrend. The epidemic continues to spread rapidly in the country, which means that compliance and responsible behavior remain a priority to avoid major shutdowns.

Eight people died from the coronavirus, most of them patients over the age of 80, but a 60-year-old diabetic also died. Unfortunately, the increase in the number of deaths is expected to be a consequence of the increase in the number of cases over the weeks. Last time we saw so many deaths daily in late spring.

The number of new cases per day far exceeds the number of recovered, so the number of active infected people is constantly expanding, currently the statistics have almost 10 thousand people. This means that, taking into account the underdetections, the number of virus carriers in Hungary can be around 200,000.

The number of severe cases is also steadily increasing, but they are still far from the high point of the first wave, even though the second phase of the epidemic is stronger. Experts still see the reason for this in the fact that in the second wave, the virus is spreading among young people who lead a more active lifestyle.

More details coming soon.
