The new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) was detected in 3,929 new Hungarian citizens, increasing the number of infected people in Hungary to 181,881.

117 chronic patients, mostly elderly, have died since yesterday morning, the second-highest daily mortality figure since the March outbreak. The death toll from the coronavirus in Hungary rose to 4,008.

44,020 people have already recovered, bringing the number of active infections to 133,853 today, which is 3,131 more than on Monday morning.

7,598 coronavirus patients are hospitalized, 638 of whom are in such serious condition that they require a ventilator. The number of people in the hospital has increased by 137 since yesterday, and the number of people on the ventilator has increased by 11.

Cecília Müller said yesterday at an operational staff briefing that the number of hospital admissions is an important indicator that the government is monitoring as it reassess austerity measures.

The government will discuss tomorrow the effects of previous austerity measures.
