Coronavirus epidemic: recent data has arrived

According to the data, the Hungarian authorities found 46 new infections in the last 24 hours. Although this is more than the previous two days (37 and 30, respectively), it still fits into a gradual downward trend.

Considering the 10 new victims, there is also no downward trend in the number of deaths. Unfortunately, this is a logical phenomenon, the decrease in the number of deaths later follows the decrease in the number of infections.

As a result of the above, the crude death rate has continued to increase, now by 12%. There is still no better explanation for the high number in the international (and especially regional) comparison than the fact that Hungarian medical care is not effective in finding the infected. (The national medical director, Cecília Müller, did not give a clear answer to this question at yesterday’s press conference.) At the same time, the epidemic is still spreading modestly in Hungary, depending on the number of deaths, the number of infected may be only a few tens of thousands. Of the 10 patients who died last day, the youngest were a 58-year-old man and a 62-year-old man, both with serious illnesses.

There are 1979 active infections in the country, half of which are treated in hospital.

Almost three-quarters of the new diseases come from Budapest (25) and Pest (8) counties. More than one new infection came only from Komárom-Esztergom (7) and Fejér (4) counties. Probably in the first one we can see the effect of the wave of hospital infection, in the second the effect of the disease in the group of nursing homes.
