The Orbán government will help wine producers with various measures to sell their products, Agriculture Minister István Nagy said at the opening of the Red Wine Days in Villány on October 2 and 3 in the small town of the Baranya Region.

The head of the ministry said that the coronavirus epidemic had also put wine producers to the test, so the cabinet had already decided to help them with a temporary subsidy of 2.2 billion guilders. He added: In addition, a HUF 4.8 billion promotion program will be launched to promote Hungarian wines, thus facilitating sales.

The Minister, referring to the current regulations on alcohol consumption in relation to driving, said

they want to start a social debate about a possible relaxation of zero tolerance in the future.

Agriculture Minister István Nagy announced that the new wine law will soon be presented to parliament, which aims to reduce the administrative burden for winemakers in the future and give due attention to areas that have not been regulated so far.

The event, organized by the town council of the small town, aims to replace the already traditional Villány Red Wine Festival, which was delayed in 2020 due to the pandemic, in a shorter, more solid, but at the same time abundant program.

Throughout the wine days, it is also possible to taste the products of outgoing winemakers, as many places already contain the latest rosé in bottles, but handicrafts and gastronomic delights are also offered on the closed main street of the small town on Saturday.
