The Austrian government, headed by Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, has created a crisis team following the terrorist attack in Vienna on Monday night.
Following a panel meeting in the early hours of the night, Sebastian Kurz called the events a horrific terrorist attack and reported that
the army will take over the protection of various sites in Vienna so that the police can concentrate on counterterrorism operations.

Charles Michel, President of the European Council, strongly condemned the cowardly act and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. The Czech Republic has announced that it has ordered controls on its common border with Austria.
