The starting point in each case was the purchase of a property.

Meet at least three Hungarian families 24.hu, over whose bank account scammers took control with well-planned steps and forged documents.

A common element of the stories presented by the newspaper is that the families requested a very favorable apartment advertisement, where the advertiser, that is, the fraudster, claimed to be a Hungarian who moved abroad and needed money urgently, so the price was so special. To what extent, it shows well that in the newspaper example, a 50 square meter apartment in District V was advertised for 34 million guilders.

The advertiser has agreed to send additional photos and videos of the apartment if the interested party downloads a free software called AnyDesk. Several people did this, but did not anticipate that the program would establish a remote desktop connection between the computers. Thus, the criminals essentially had no choice but to wait for the victim to log into their internet bank account.

As this alone is not enough, as the victim’s phone must be accessed to receive the code received in the SMS in order to initiate a transfer, the scammers took additional measures: it turned out that an unknown person initiated the exchange of SIM cards for the couple’s company subscription. . She claimed the cards had been stolen, along with a request to block the originals. In addition to the forged power of attorney, she presented to the administration a copy of the false signature of the victims’ company – she wrote 24.hu.

Telenor allegedly admitted its mistake, saying that its employee had been misled with apparently regular documents, but also claimed that there had been no omissions on the part of the company. In any case, the scammers now had access to SMS, converting not only the money in the bank account but also the savings in government securities into bitcoins, making it an untraceable cryptocurrency.
