A government decree on supporting home renovation has been published, so you can now see who can use it and what it can be used for.

The recently announced support for families without portfolio minister, Katalin Novák, provides assistance to families who already own their own property, up to a maximum of HUF 3 million, which can be used for renovation, expansion and modernization, half of which can be spent on material and labor costs. The grant can represent up to half of the renovation costs and each family can only apply for the money once.

According to the regulations, the purpose of the support is to improve the housing conditions of the families, but they also mention the incentive for the renovation of the housing stock and the whitening of the construction industry.

One of the conditions of support is that the applicant has at least one child under the age of 25 (if the young person has changed ability to work, there is no age limit). The guardian of the minor’s relative can also request support, as can those who are expecting a child. By law, this is possible after the 12th week of pregnancy.

It has already been determined that a continuous social security relationship must be had for at least one year (with a maximum of 30 days of interruption, the period of higher education and the job applicant annuity can be included, and an agency must be included of foreign social security) and must be free of public debt. support for home renovation.

An important criterion is that the applicant has the joint right that all children live in the same place of residence. According to the decree, it is also a condition that the claimant’s child or minor – in the case of a joint application, the claimants together or their minor children – have a joint participation of at least 50 percent in the subsidized apartment.

The option can also be used by single-parent families, and divorced parents who share custody of the child can share the support among themselves or assign their share in favor of the other parent. Single-parent families can apply for support even if the father has worked abroad but already has a national social security relationship on the day of application. A family in which one parent works abroad is also entitled to the money if the other has a social security relationship in Hungary.

According to the regulation, a person who has owned the house for a long time can only apply for the benefit if the property to be renovated has been declared as his place of residence for at least one year at the time of application and also lives there with your son. In the case of a new apartment or house, this is not a condition.

The amount cannot be claimed for an apartment that has been previously subsidized, unless ownership has changed in the meantime. Intrafamily transcription will not be a viable option because support is only available if the new applicant is not a relative of the previous one.

In addition to classic home renovation work, the bracket can be used to build or replace air conditioners, solar collectors, summer kitchens, laundry rooms, but also to build a garage or driveway. What is also interesting is that a winter garden can be built with public money, but the installation and replacement of built-in furniture or kitchen appliances is also supported.
