Medical director Cecília Müller emphasized that the number of coronavirus cases is increasing, not only in Hungary but also in Europe. We are living in a period of the second wave, when the number of infected people in our environment is growing significantly and with it the number of lives lost, he said.

On the last day, the number of cases at home increased by 2,032, with 46 deaths from the virus, with ages ranging from 56 to 97.

He sees that there have been more people who have died of autoimmune diseases in the last few days than before, but still most of the people with cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes are dying.

The epidemic seems to be coming to an end, so far 935,842 PCR tests have been carried out in Hungary, more than 16,000 in the last day. The numbers clearly show that everyone gets the lab test from those who need it, he explained.

Hungary also represents half of the EU average in terms of total number of cases and number of deaths, if we project the figures to one million people.

the the average age of the deceased is 76 years so far, most die by the age of 80. According to data released today by the CSO, fewer people died between January and September than at the same time last year, he said. In terms of excess mortality, no excess mortality has been recorded in Hungary so far, although there is always an increase in mortality data during influenza seasons, he added.
