Medical director Cecília Müller pointed out that the number of coronavirus cases is increasing, not only in Hungary but also in Europe. We live in a second wave period, when the number of infected people in our environment is growing significantly, along with the number of lives lost, he said.

In the last day, the number of cases at home increased by 2,079, 63 people died from the virus, they were between 49 and 92 years old. He stressed that those infected also need to use hospital treatments in greater numbers. There are currently 2,891 hospitalized coronavirus patients, 243 of whom are on ventilators.

He stressed that it is extremely important these days to avoid physical encounters. He noted that situations where people are present in large numbers in one place at a time should especially be avoided.

He stressed that schools are closed during the fall holidays, so disinfection is ongoing in these institutions. Cecília Müller said that the Hungarian Armed Forces are also deployed in institutions where coronavirus disease has been detected before.

We are witnessing an increase in the coronavirus epidemic in all age groups. One in five of those infected belonged to the age group of 40 to 49 years. More than 15 percent of all those infected come from the age of 65. The disease spread from the youngest age group to the middle age group, older than middle age.

According to Cecília Müller, the signal is clear, the positivity rate has spread from the young to the middle-aged and older.
