Residents tried to leave the French capital even before the curfew went into effect at midnight Thursday.

Coronavirus – the second wave

Half a year after the spring outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the second wave of the pandemic has arrived. The radical increase in the number of infected is forcing more and more countries to re-impose restrictions, despite the fact that the world economy has not even recovered from the effects of the spring outbreak. According to the signs, the second wave also reached Hungary. Follow our news!

A staggeringly large traffic jam erupted around Paris on Thursday night, a few hours before the national closures took effect. According to news from the BBC, the vehicles were congested on a total of 700 kilometers of road in the Ile-de-France region. The traffic jam was due to Parisians wanting to get out of the city before curfew restrictions went into effect at midnight. However, there were also those who just wanted to return to Paris before the weekend that ended the autumn holidays.

French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Wednesday that measures against the coronavirus epidemic would be tightened starting Friday because the infection would spread even faster than in the spring. On Thursday, 47,637 new registered infections and 250 deaths were reported.

Starting at midnight, curfew restrictions have been introduced across the country: all non-elemental travel is prohibited and people can only leave their homes for things they need. Restaurants and restaurants are closing, switching to online education at universities, but schools remain open. You can also go to work, but telecommuting is recommended. The new measures will remain in effect until December at the earliest.

Traffic jams similar to those on Thursday night unfolded in March, in the run-up to the first national shutdown. At the time, residents of some French regions were particularly hostile to those leaving the capital, as Paris was hit hardest by the epidemic. Experts say this is not the case now – the infection is spreading rapidly across the country.
