It says a lot about the form of Sallai who also scored in the four previous betting games he entered the field. First against the championship against Augsburg, then against the Hungarian team in the World Cup qualifiers against Poland and San Marino, and now against Mönchengladbach.
The forward, who re-entered the starting line-up in Freiburg, cut the ball in the goal in the 10th minute after a pass from Ermedin Demerovic (0-1). – It was Sallai’s seventh goal in the league this season, falling below the five champions due to injury.
The aftermath brought a balanced encounter, there were situations on both sides and even Sallai could have scored his second goal. In the end, however, Gladbach tied in the 54th minute Marcus thuram with a bang (1–1), and the Frenchman was very upset, he even reversed the game in seven minutes (2-1).
Sallai left the field in the 76th minute, and Freiburg, though struggling, could not even save the game until the draw, although, in the 95th minute, the guests scored, only to reject the blow because of the referee.
Mönchengladbach thus achieved three very important points, finishing seventh in the table with this victory and taking a big step towards one of the places to start the European Cup.
