Border blocking: this is what Wizz Air is preparing for

Wizz Air is already investigating the possible consequences of the government-announced travel restrictions for the operation of the airline and will adjust the schedule if necessary, the airline told MTI on Saturday.

Affected passengers will be automatically notified of any schedule change to their email address when booking. Passengers who have booked a ticket for Wizz Air flights through a travel agent, including online travel platforms, should contact the company where they purchased the ticket.

Passengers who are unable to fly due to travel restrictions while their flight is operating as scheduled can cancel their ticket and request a refund for a cancellation fee.

According to the announcement, if a flight is canceled, Wizz Air account holders can claim 120 percent of the original fare in Wizz Air points, or claim a 100 percent refund based on the original payment method, or choose a free transfer option.

The possible changes are necessary because, in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, the Hungarian government has announced that it will close the borders of Hungary as of September 1. Non-Hungarian citizens cannot enter the country, while Hungarian citizens returning from abroad must undergo home quarantine for two weeks or until two negative coronavirus tests are presented. These regulations will be in effect for one month.

The airline called the attention of passengers to find out their travel restrictions and if they could enter the country. They also noted that entry rules to individual countries can change between the time a ticket is purchased and the date of travel, the risk of which must be borne by passengers.
