Due to the pandemic situation, BKK has been operating more frequently than school hours since September, and at the request of the Budapest Government Office, it has been operating at the highest capacity since November: all buses, trams, trolleybuses and Budapest metro trains have been put on the market.

The extra flights, which are already integrated into the morning schedule until 9 in the morning and the evening rush hours until 7 in the afternoon, run according to the busiest possible schedule. Furthermore, with the exception of the M4 metro, the vehicles do not move without a driver. However, although there is currently no shortage of bus drivers among service providers in connection with the closure of tourism due to the pandemic situation, the same cannot be said for BKV’s staff of tram and metro drivers due to the epidemiological situation, said BKK.

A denser service than the current one could only be provided if the capital had immediate access to new vehicles, had enough drivers to transport them, and had additional financial resources available for the operation of the vehicles – fuel, maintenance – and in BKK communication.
