Haas reports that the French pilot suffered minor burns to his hands and ankles, but is well out of the situation. As a precaution, he is transferred to a hospital, the rescue helicopter is already on its way. It is not inconceivable that Grosjean also suffered a rib fracture.

The image above does not show what happened to the French driver after the cockpit of his wrecked car pierced through the lane barrier, stopped behind him and caught fire. Not knowing if Grosjean was conscious the entire time, in any case he must have spent a good 15-20 seconds in the burning monohull before he could get out. The firefighters arriving at the burning car had just begun to die out when the Frenchman appeared, fleeing the flames through the barrier.

HOW GROSJEAN ESCAPED THE FIRE

UPDATE 17.40:

As you can see in the photo above, the French Haas racer lost his shoes from his left leg somewhere while on the run. Even before the race was restarted, it turned out that Grosjean was affected by an acceleration of 53G at the moment of impact, although this last figure has not been officially confirmed.

It is also unofficial information that the French pilot spent a total of 26 seconds between the flames from the outbreak of the fire until his escape, however, he only suffered burns to his hands and ankles. The suspicion of a broken rib has not yet been clarified, but this type of injury is an almost constant feature of accidents that at that time are slowed down by six-point seat belts in cars.
