Joan Laporta obtained 54.28 percent of the votes (30,184 votes), followed by 29.99 percent (16,679 votes). Victor Fuente finished third, reaching 8.58 percent (4,769 votes) in third place Toni Freixa Ran. The battle of the three candidates was marked by a sporting fight, with the two losers congratulating the winner with a hug.

At the end of the scrutiny, the Spanish television channel TV3 published a preliminary score, which predicted the victory of Laporta with a participation of 58.3 percent. According to a partial result published by Barcelona just over 50 percent processing, the old-new president led with 57.25 percent, or 12,333 votes, which was celebrated long before the final result was announced.

During the day, several former players, coaches and presidents of the first team also voted. As is known, it was precisely because of Bartomeu’s resignation in October 2020 that the club needed a new president, although this year it would definitely have expired.

Laporta, who previously led the club from 2003 to 2010, announced in April 2020 that he would fight for the presidency again, while in December he drew attention by renting ad space next to the stadium of his former rival Real Madrid. His name is associated with one of the club’s most successful eras, under his leadership the soccer team won 12 trophies, and he was also president during the 2008-2009 six-cup season.
