He supported Fidesz-KDNP in the Parliamentary Justice Commission on Tuesday János Volner amendment to the new electoral bill, which further toughens the conditions for the establishment of a national list – reported Telex László Sebián-Petrovszki. A member of the DK parliament, a member of the committee, said that the representatives of the ruling parties voted unanimously in favor of the proposal, leaving 8 votes in favor at the committee meeting, while 4 opposition members present voted no.
Volner, who previously held the position of faction leader and vice president at Jobbik, left the party in 2018 and participated in the founding of the group of representatives of Nuestro País. In September 2019, Nuestra Patria was also left behind by János Volner, who this year founded a new party: the Volner Party.
This proposal is stricter than the one proposed by the government: a proposal presented two weeks before midnight said that “a party that has independently nominated candidates in at least nine counties and the capital in at least fifty electoral districts can establish a list of parties ”. Previously, candidates from only 27 individual electoral districts had to be nominated to claim the national list.
Even with the government proposal, it would be much more difficult, more than two, for the opposition parties to establish a separate list if they also wanted state support, but in the meantime, they would only nominate one candidate against Fidesz in a district.
If parliament votes on the electoral amendment package in this way, opposition parties will have to run on a list in the 2022 parliamentary elections. Also, smaller parties will have to nominate candidates in more than one district if they want a national list. This affects the Hungarian Two-Tailed Dog Party more, whose leadership has planned to launch candidates in districts where this does not worsen the chances of success in opposition elections.
The government justifies that I want to amend the electoral law to make it more difficult for camouflage parties. Gergely Gulyás The minister spoke about not wanting to confuse the opposition list with the amendment package at all.
