Coronavirus: the second wave

Half a year after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in the spring, the second wave of the pandemic has arrived. The radical increase in the number of infected is forcing more and more countries to re-impose restrictions, despite the fact that the world economy has not even recovered from the effects of the spring outbreak. The tests revealed a coronavirus infection in fifteen people at the Kamaraerdei út nursing home in the capital, the Government Office of the capital city of Budapest said. Subsequently, the Mayor’s Office issued a statement that revealed:

Of the 572 residents and nearly 300 workers at home, 29 contracted the coronavirus.

25 infected were treated, four by home workers. Of the 3 sites of the institution, 2 are affected, there are no active infections at the site of Bánk bán utca. Most elderly patients are completely asymptomatic, and some have mild symptoms. However, to recover them and protect the rest of the home, they were or will be hospitalized at the request of the institution.

One of the residents who came to the hospital from home died Thursday.

The infection was first detected in a physical therapist working in a nursing home. The employee last worked at his home in late August and reported by phone after his last day of work that he was not feeling well, the Mayor’s Office previously said. Because of this, the head nurse instructed her to stay home and do the test at home.

In consultation with the epidemiological authority, the director of the institution ordered the examination of all residents and employees of the affected department, in addition to the contact persons. They knew a total of three infected last week.
