József Czukor may be replaced by the Deputy Director General for Analysis of the Information Office. The candidate will be heard by Parliament’s National Security Committee next week.

There will be a change of leadership in the Information Office (MA), according to the Commission agendas posted on Parliament’s website on Friday. According to him, in the closed session of the National Security Committee of the National Assembly on Tuesday morning

The first item on the agenda will be the hearing of Zsolt Bunford, candidate for Director General of the National Security Brigade General.

According to the MA’s website, Zsolt Bunford is currently the Office’s Deputy General Analyst Director. The current CEO is József Czukor since October 1, 2018. He previously worked for the Information Office: from 1993 to 1997 he was Head of Department and from 2002 to 2004 he was also General Director.

The Information Office is the Hungarian civil intelligence service, one of the five Hungarian national security services.

Zoltán Kiss, director general of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, which dealt with, among other things, counterintelligence and due diligence of state officials, was recently removed from office by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in September. Szabolcs Bárdos was appointed to replace him last week.
