Coronavirus: the second wave, the second closure

Later than expected by many, but in mid-November, the Hungarian government also decided to try to curb the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic by introducing restrictions. At the time of the decision, 5,000 new infections had been identified per day and the number of deaths from the virus mostly ranged from 50 to 100 in 24 hours. A government decree late Tuesday extended most of the emergency measures ordered on November 10 until the expiration of a law passed almost unanimously on February 8. This applies, for example, to the use of masks, free parking, curfews (including New Years Eve!), Early closing of shops, restrictions on events (including family reunions, including Christmas gatherings), distance education Partial schools, healthcare workers free rides, tax breaks, wage subsidies and penalties for breaking the rules.

The extension does not apply only to military assistance and “emergency rules for out-of-store business and parcel trading” (which can be done without a 30-day notification obligation) and therefore only They are applicable until December 11.

Let’s see in detail what will last until February 8.

The government decree in force since 0 am last Wednesday will remain one by one. That is to say

  • It is forbidden to be in the street between 8 pm and 5 am with some exceptions. Exceptions are: work, dog walking, professional athletes training or match, life-threatening situations.
  • The wearing of a mask is also mandatory in public areas where it is prescribed by the mayor (this applies to almost all of Budapest).
  • Digital education remains in secondary schools, as is the main rule in universities and colleges. The bedrooms may be closed in exceptional cases.
  • All events, gatherings are prohibited, it is forbidden to group or gather in public places and public places.
  • It is forbidden for all amateur team sports, you can run, walk or ride a bicycle.
  • Discos, theaters, cinemas are closed, parties are closed doormen.
  • There can only be 10 people in a family or private event.
  • The wedding can only take place without a wedding, in a close family circle and with witnesses. There can be up to 50 people at the funeral.

Parking will remain free and the various documents will only expire 60 days after February 8 (again).
