According to feedback received from the Democratic Union of Teachers, many schools have not resolved proper disinfection.

Coronavirus – the second wave

Half a year after the spring outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the second wave of the pandemic has arrived. The radical increase in the number of infected is forcing more and more countries to reimpose restrictions, although the world economy has not even recovered from the effects of the spring outbreak. According to the posters, the second wave also reached Hungary. Follow our news!

Miklós Kásler confirmed last week that educators who received the coronavirus at work are entitled to full sick pay. In practice, however, it depends on the benevolence of tank districts and heads of institutions to see if they really understand it, said the vice president of the Teachers’ Union (PSZ) in Népszava.

According to Tamás Totyik, in the absence of uniform regulations, in some schools the infection is actually treated as an occupational disease, so the educators in question receive 100 percent of their basic salary, but in other places they do not use this classification, and those who are entitled are only entitled to 60 percent statutory sick pay.

The Klebelsberg Center for the Maintenance of Public Schools has informed the union that the legal framework is being developed, meanwhile, the directors of the institutions must declare whether they classify the infection as an occupational disease, this depends on the individual decision of the director.

To further complicate the situation, it is difficult to officially prove whether the teacher in question was indeed infected at school or elsewhere.

The vice president of the PSZ drew attention to the fact that if a teacher is in quarantine, but his state of health allows it, he should immediately start the possibility of working from home in the institution, because in this case, if he delivers the material out of the classroom. along with the various assignments, as if you were teaching at school.

Another teacher advocate, the Democratic Union of Teachers (PDSZ), said there were systemic problems and an open letter was written to decision makers. They noted that there are no regular examinations among educators, so it cannot even be revealed if someone has been infected in the workplace. According to them, their employer should provide free tests to teachers and other school personnel.

However, according to the comments received from the union, the institutions are not disinfected with the required care.

The PDSZ also complains that schools have been deprived of the right to order local periodic digital curricula.

The Klebelsberg Center told Népszava they were unaware of a case where substantive measures had dragged on for days, with the central and tank districts constantly processing and handling inquiries related to the coronavirus, claiming that decisions would be made within 24 hours.

As previously reported, 20 kindergartens and 6 schools have so far been ordered to take extraordinary breaks due to the coronavirus disease. In addition, the operational court decided to introduce a digital work schedule outside of class in 186 institutions, covering a class in 177 cases and the whole school in 9 cases.
