Workers’ wages would rise 15 percent from January and their working hours would remain unchanged. It was written that the negotiations were considered closed. Kata Csató, manager of the strike committee, told hvg.hu that the offer from the board of directors was an ultimatum and would not be accepted.

The two new heads of the institution, Emil Novák, deputy director general and chancellor Gábor Szarka, accept the two demands of the strike committee representing the employees of the University of Theater and Cinematographic Arts (SZFE) on the salary increase and the hours of job.

They indicated that the demands of the strike committee included a 10 percent wage increase, but they considered the 15 percent justified and would accept the maintenance of the working hours governed by the state reserve as of January 1.

“In view of the fact that the projected salary evolution of the employees significantly exceeds the demands made by the SZFE strike committee, and the demands regarding working hours were also heard, so that the management of SZFE in relation to the previous lawsuits

he closed the trial with the strike committee and asked those involved in the strike to continue working. If the strike committee, however, decides to continue the strike, the SZFE management will consider the previous offer null and void. “

It was also written that the new university leadership and the university board “continue to see dialogue as the only possible way to resolve the situation around the SZFE and are ready for immediate consultation for a solution.”

After the offer, we contacted the secretary of the strike committee, Kata Csató, who said that the board’s proposal was an ultimatum, they would not accept it, they wanted to negotiate more.

We do not send an ultimatum, but a proposal.

He said that a 15 percent salary increase is not an offer from the board of directors, nor is it a gesture, but rather a legal obligation, since it is accompanied by a change of model in the relevant legislation. Also, SZFE employees requested a 10 percent raise.

He is confident that they will be able to continue the negotiations, because then they will be able to move on.

Most of SZFE’s instructors went on strike indefinitely Thursday morning after failing to reach an agreement with their designated negotiating partners within a week.

In addition to raising salaries and maintaining working hours, they have six more demands for them to regain university autonomy. László Németh, a member of the strike committee, said at a press conference of protesters against the violent takeover of SZFE on Thursday afternoon that there was also a consultation between the parties during the morning, which ended without success. It was said in the incident that the protesters still do not recognize the board of trustees and their appointees as legitimate and are not abandoning their demands.

Despite the fact that Gergely Gulyás, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, announced in government information: on Wednesday, the government decided, at the request of the board of directors headed by Attila Vidnyánszky, to double the institution’s support for HUF 3 billion next year.
