Coronavirus: the second wave, the second closure

Later than expected by many, but in mid-November, the Hungarian government also decided to try to curb the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic by introducing restrictions. At the time of the decision, 5,000 new infections had been identified per day and the number of deaths from the virus was mostly between 50 and 100 in 24 hours. The first step is a partial closure, but how effective it is is questionable. Follow our news!

Miklós Kásler, Minister of Human Resources, appointed the hospital directors on Friday. The mandates of the heads of clinical centers, Budapest central hospitals and county hospitals will take effect on January 1, 2021. In his speech prior to the delivery of the appointments, Kassler emphasized:

healthcare is being rearranged in every detail, which affects Emmit as well. A National Hospital General Directorate will be established to help and hold county hospitals together and to implement political decisions, particularly on economic and financial issues.

Miklós Kásler also spoke about the fact that before the Hungarian health transformation, “the four most important tasks must be solved”:

  • the overall patient care system should be developed from primary care to county hospitals,
  • The care of the five most serious groups of diseases of public health importance must be guaranteed and the Hungarian epidemiological system must be reorganized.
  • As a fourth task, he emphasized caring for people who were socially and healthily vulnerable.

The minister affirmed that “they want to establish a legal, transparent and clear relationship, for which the separation of public and private health care is essential, since both are necessary, but in orderly conditions.”

In his intervention, Miklós Kásler also assessed the reorganization of primary care and the operation of the five national programs as a difficult task, since the public and private care systems were “almost inextricably intertwined”. “We want to change that and we are looking for the right people for that. I ask you, my assistants, to be my assistants and my partners in this,” said the Minister.
