Paul Szombathy fired him, but then the owner of Fidesz fired Szombathy.

The name of Ákos Gergely Balogh appears again in the Index printing; noticed the 24.hu. Balogh was fired a month ago by Pál Szombathy, then editor-in-chief, on the grounds that they disagreed with his ideas about the future of the Index.

Then, or because of that, shortly afterwards, the foundation owned by Index was acquired by Indamedia, influenced by Fidesz, led by Miklós Vaszily, and Szombathy was replaced. The acting editor-in-chief became Zoltán Fekete-Szalóky.

Balogh was previously the editor-in-chief of the pro-government Mandiner, and prior to that, he operated his company’s personal website, Viktor Orbán.
