Péter Jakab received a record penalty for his action with the bag of potatoes last week.

László Kövér, Chairman of the Jobbik Group, was fined an unprecedented 4.4 million HUF for his campaign with a bag of potatoes last week, the Alfahír.

The background of the case was that Jakab wanted to give Prime Minister Viktor Orbán a bag of potato chips in Parliament to react to the result of the Borsod by-elections; Jakab believes that Fidesz won the favors of the voters. However, Jakab was unable to deliver the sack of potatoes to Orbán because several people got in his way.

“In a state governed by the rule of law, this could obviously lead to legal action, but we do not live in a state governed by the rule of law. The only thing we can do is appeal to the immunity committee, but there is not much to wait in this matter, “the politician told the portal. Jakab added, “All I could do was give the ‘kind leader’ a gift with the potatoes that Fidesz has been distributing in Borsod and across the country for 10 years to see what it’s like to be valued so much.”

The president of Jobbik handed over a bag of dried pasta to the head of government last June, then successfully.
