The decline observed the previous week has stopped.

Coronavirus: the second wave

Half a year after the spring outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the second wave of the pandemic has arrived. The radical increase in the number of infected is forcing more and more countries to re-impose restrictions, despite the fact that the world economy has not even recovered from the effects of the spring outbreak. According to the signs, the second wave also reached Hungary. Follow our news!

The amount of SARS-CoV-2 viruses inherited from sewage samples stagnated at week 42 in the capital and in a dozen and a half other Hungarian settlements, the government’s public health information center said. The information noted that this had halted the decline observed in the previous week, but that the concentration was not above moderate.

The communication recalled that the increase in the concentration of hereditary coronavirus material detected in sewage samples is usually followed by a 5-day delay in the increase in the number of new infections.

It has also been written that a European wastewater monitoring program is being prepared, which will allow to effectively forecast an increase in the number of infections, so that the health system can prepare in time.

By dawn on Tuesday, 989 new infections had been identified and 38 people had died from the coronavirus-induced Covid-19 disease.
