Coronavirus: the second wave
Half a year after the spring outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the second wave of the pandemic has arrived. The radical increase in the number of infected is forcing more and more countries to re-impose restrictions, despite the fact that the world economy has not even recovered from the effects of the spring outbreak. The new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) was detected in 3,149 new Hungarian citizens, increasing the number of infected people in the country to 59,247, the government information page wrote.
Most of the deaths were in 35 elderly and chronically ill patients, bringing the number of deaths to 1,425 and 16,242 have already been recovered. The deceased also includes a 32-year-old woman who was reportedly struggling with various underlying illnesses. The number of active infections is 41,580.

28% of the actively infected, 37% of the dead and 29% of those recovered are from Budapest. There are 2,449 hospitalized coronavirus patients, 221 of whom are on ventilators.
Compared to yesterday’s data, 204 new patients were hospitalized in 24 hours and 16 people had to be hooked up to a ventilator.
However, authorities conducted more tests than ever, with 18,932 samples taken in the last day.
The proportion of positive tests is around 16 percent. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that a country be successfully tested if the proportion of positive tests is less than 5 percent.
They added that a steeply rising phase of the second wave of the epidemic is also taking place in Europe and Hungary, which is expected to further increase the number of infected people.
