Coronavirus: the second wave, the second closure

Later than expected by many, but in mid-November, the Hungarian government also decided to try to curb the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic by introducing restrictions. At the time of the decision, 5,000 new infections a day had been identified and the number of deaths from the virus was mostly between 50 and 100 in 24 hours. The new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) was detected in another 4,397 new Hungarian citizens, increasing the number of infected people identified in Hungary to 170,298, according to the government information page.

Most of the 121 deaths were elderly, chronic patients, bringing the number of deaths to 3,689 and 40,820 have already recovered.

The number of active infections is 125,789. 22% of the actively infected, 26% of the dead and 27% of those recovered are from Budapest. 7,358 coronavirus patients are being hospitalized, 599 of whom are on ventilators.

According to the sitemap, the majority of people have registered in Budapest (39,759) and Pest County (22,311) so far. It is followed by the counties of Győr-Moson-Sopron (11,628), Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén (9674), Hajdú-Bihar (9026) and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg (8942). The county least affected by the infection is Tolna (2297).

There are 40,359 people in official home quarantine and the number of samples has increased to 1,480,674.

Police have acted in a total of 4,817 cases to date for violating the curfew.
