Less than 2,000 new infections were identified in one day.

Coronavirus: the second wave, the second closure

Later than expected by many, but in mid-November, the Hungarian government also decided to try to curb the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic by introducing restrictions. At the time of the decision, 5,000 new infections had been identified per day and the number of deaths from the virus was mostly between 50 and 100 in 24 hours. The first step is a partial closure, but how effective it is is questionable. Follow our news!

By Tuesday, the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) had been detected in 1,893 people in Hungary, bringing the number of identified infections to 285,763.

The death toll from the epidemic rose from 107 to 7,237, according to official figures.

A total of 83,115 people have been declared cured so far; they were even 569 less the day before. The number of known active infections is currently 195,411. Their number has decreased by 1,217 compared to the most recent data.

The hospital cares for 7,845 coronavirus patients, which means 178 new patients were admitted to the institutions last day. Of these, 597 patients required mechanical ventilation, a decrease of 8.

Update: In an earlier version of our article, we wrote that a total of 2,393,535 coronavirus tests had been performed so far, 10,903 completed, and 17.36 percent were positive. This was calculated from the data that appeared on koronavirus.gov.hu on Tuesday morning at eight in the morning: there it was written that 2,382,632 samples had been taken since the start of the epidemic.

However, as of Monday morning, this cumulative number was not yet on the website, at which time it was written that 2,320,419 tests had been completed. If we calculate with these data, the difference between the article numbers of Monday morning and Tuesday morning of the epidemiology page is 73,116, that is, 62,213 tests were added to the aggregate at some point during Monday or Tuesday morning

If we count 73,116 samples and 1,893 new infections, the rate of positive results drops to 2.59.

According to the decision of the operational staff, there is currently an extraordinary hiatus in 124 kindergartens for one group, and in 70 kindergartens and 37 primary schools for the entire institution.
