After weeks of tug of war, the national officer’s chief physician was questioned in parliament, and could now also explain to opposition parliamentarians, for example, why not all data is being released. According to him, Hungary is even a few steps ahead of the World Health Organization.

Because of Fidesz, it took weeks for the operations court to be heard by the parliamentary defense and law enforcement commission on Thursday. Although Zsolt Halmosi, the commander of the national hospital, and Colonel Tibor Lakatos were also present, especially the presence of the national officer, Cecília Müller, promised a lot, since in addition to the daily information, which was strongly selective, the opposition representatives now they could ask him about the epidemic.

In his speech, Müller chose the usual method of reporting at the press conference and said that Europe is much more involved in the second wave and that Hungary’s statistics cannot be compared with those of other countries because they use a different system to determine deaths, for example:

“Hungary has opened the door wide, so someone died in anything, if it was tested positive during the disease, we will be classified as coronavirus deaths,” Müller said.

According to Müller, we have always been a little ahead of the World Health Organization (WHO): “When they declared the state of emergency, measures had already been taken in Hungary to await the epidemic. A procedural principle to help healthcare providers was published in January. “

According to the medical director, the development of the Hungarian vaccine is also progressing well, and then he expressed the hope that the confidence in the Hungarian vaccination system would be enough for everyone to take advantage of the pandemic if the first vaccines are completed.

Complex data

Questions from opposition MPs were opened by Ágnes Vadai from DK: Vadai first called the government information page crazy, with no graphics anywhere, asked why municipalities do not receive quarantine data on their settlements and if already there is a vaccination plan somewhere.

Tamás Harangozó from the MSZP also asked tough questions, referring to a doctor’s letter and asking why health workers don’t know how many beds are available in the country, for example, and why they sign a confidentiality contract with doctors and nurses. , but he also asked about 100 percent sick pay, which is currently not available to everyone.

György László György Lukács from Jobbik also asked about the vaccination plan and whether the use of a drug called Remdesivir is mandatory in case of coronavirus and, if so, how much it costs.

Although the questions only overlap in general terms, Cecília Müller said she would answer more in summary. He first emphasized that data provision was an “extremely complex process” as it was not about adding numbers, and then he explained the complexity and multi-layered nature of the system and the evaluation of results as a reason for “changing the numbers. data over time “.

“With this data release, we are going nowhere because, in the end, the data approved by the National Center for Public Health must be valid,” he said.

Müller acknowledged that during the second wave, municipalities would no longer receive notifications from people in quarantine, citing the fact that many objections had been received. “There remains the possibility of asking for help from those who are in quarantine, but in a small settlement it is especially identifiable and everyone has a positive person in their mouths, they are segregated. I think they will receive municipal help in the event of a signal without actively transmitting their personal data ”.

He said that there is a vaccination plan coordinated by the Ministry of Human Resources and that the range of vaccinated will be expanded, starting with the most vulnerable groups.

“I cannot tell you anything about the closure of the casinos, it was not an issue for the operating staff,” he said.

To Bell’s question about why healthcare workers don’t know how many free hospital beds there are, Zsolt Halmosi, the hospital commander, replied: he thinks it’s okay if a doctor doesn’t see where there is still free capacity, it’s enough with knowing the national capacity. the data must be seen by management. “And the ambulance service has data online, so they see where there is a free bed,” Halmosi said.

Although not all questions were answered (100 percent sick pay, physician confidentiality contract, available vaccination plan, etc.), there was no possibility to answer questions, just to form an opinion. In this, Ágnes Vadai said, more data would be important because people are suspicious and it is not credible to refer to data validation when tens of thousands of certain numbers change every day. “It’s not so ironic to describe how many tests were done in one day,” he said.

In the end, he asked Halmos and Tibor Lakatos, who said he was representing the police, if proceedings would be initiated against Szilárd Demeter’s anti-Semitic article and if József Szájer MEP would take up the drug possession case. Although he asked it as a question, they couldn’t answer it if they wanted to, because the audience was over.

Originally, the operational tribe was supposed to be heard by the Public Welfare Committee, but Fidesz made it impossible for weeks, claiming they were unwilling to work with Lajos Korózs, an MSZP who played a role in posting the fake videos, and that he was the president. In fact, the opposition summoned him to another committee for a hearing, but asked the tribe to allow the other committee to hear them as well.
