We have had the worst day of the epidemic so far, there have never been so many deaths in Hungary. A third of the tests were not conducted beyond the acceptable minimum, so more than two thousand new infections were found and the number of active cases increased in 1861.
Coronavirus: the second wave
Half a year after the spring outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the second wave of the pandemic has arrived. The radical increase in the number of infected is forcing more and more countries to re-impose restrictions, despite the fact that the world economy has not even recovered from the effects of the spring outbreak. There have never been so many victims of the coronavirus epidemic in one day: 63 people died in one day. So far, the worst daily toll in the epidemic has been 48 victims. Along with them, in 1535, the number of deaths had increased.
The title of the official information also indicates that 63 chronic patients have died, the text of the communication refers only to “chronic patients mostly elderly”, and the list of underlying diseases of the deceased shows that many of them simply had hypertension arterial or diabetes.
In one day, 2,079 new Hungarians were diagnosed with the new coronavirus infection and 155 people were classified as cured.
therefore, the number of active cases increased in 1861 to 45,461.
Additionally, only 11,710 tests were performed in one day, which means that the proportion of positive tests was 17.7 percent. According to the recommendation of the World Health Organization, the evidence can be considered sufficient if the proportion of positive tests does not exceed 5 percent. That is, the reported number of newly identified infected people would be taken, at the very least, seriously if more than three times as many tests had been performed, so all we can say with certainty is that the number of active cases is constantly increasing and every more and more people are hospitalized.
Currently, 2,891 patients with coronavirus are treated in hospitals, 289 more than a day before. 243 of them are on fans, 10 more than a day ago.
There is a fall break in schools, so you don’t have to take an extraordinary break anywhere now. However, in 70 of the kindergartens, an extraordinary break is taking place in 70 places, 19 more than a day ago.
The epidemiological authority publishes every day how many infected people have been diagnosed in each county since the outbreak began. This line of numbers now makes almost no sense as it reveals nothing about the number of active cases, how many are in the hospital, and it is not possible to know where much is being tested. In either case, the growth by county looks like this:
