Half a year after the spring outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the second wave of the pandemic has arrived. The radical increase in the number of infected is forcing more and more countries to re-impose restrictions, despite the fact that the world economy has not even recovered from the effects of the spring outbreak. In one day, 16 people died from the coronavirus, the epidemiological information website said. Therefore, there are already 781 deaths in Hungary. There have been no more casualties in a day since April 19.

In the last day, 848 Hungarians were diagnosed with the new coronavirus infection, and with them the number of infected people identified in the country has risen to 27,309 since the start of the epidemic.

Meanwhile, 228 people were classified as cured, a total of 6,118.

The number of active infections increased from 604 to 20,410.

11,972 tests were conducted the day before, a total of 727,649 since the outbreak began. 7.08 percent of yesterday’s tests were positive; According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the level of testing is adequate if no more than 5 percent of all tests are positive, which means that few are performed in Hungary.

757 coronavirus patients are hospitalized, 16 fewer than a day earlier. 52 of them are connected to fans, two less than a day ago.

Territorial breakdown data also revealed that the coronavirus continued to spread across all counties in the country.

  • 332 new infections were diagnosed in Budapest and 248 in Pest county.
  • There was an increase of 10 or more people in Győr-Moson-Sopron (38), Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok (34), Baranya (31), Heves (26), Csongrád-Csanád (21), Bács-Kiskun (20) , Fejér (19), Komárom-Esztergom (12) and Zala (10) counties,
  • the lowest number of new infections was registered in Békés (9), Hajdú-Bihar (8), Nógrád (8), Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén (7), Somogy (7), Tolna (7), Veszprém (6), Vas (3) and found in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county (1).
