Coronavirus: the second wave
Half a year after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in the spring, the second wave of the pandemic has arrived. The radical increase in the number of infected is forcing more and more countries to re-impose restrictions, despite the fact that the world economy has not even recovered from the effects of the spring outbreak. Another 158 Hungarian citizens were diagnosed with the new coronavirus infection, increasing the number of infections identified in Hungary to 5,669, reported koronavirus.gov.hu.
Just once, the daily number of cases was higher in April, when 210 new infections were recorded.
The number of registered cases was slightly less than 100 on Thursday, but increased by 132 on Friday.
The government information page has not reported another death, and so far 614 are still dying in the epidemic. The number of active infections was 1,296, the most recent in mid-May was very high. 40% of the actively infected, 60% of the dead and 42% of those recovered are from Budapest. 90 patients with coronavirus are treated in the hospital, 7 of whom are connected to ventilators.
8,191 people are in official home quarantine, 183 more than yesterday. There were 3,245 more samples in one day, so 417,890 tests have already been performed.
The former editorial office of index.hu has essentially ceased to exist, the country has lost its most read online interface.
