The city of Sulan in northeast China’s Chilin province received the highest risk score in terms of epidemiological risks on a three-point scale, local authorities said on Sunday, signaling another wave of the coronavirus epidemic in Northeast China.
Local officials raised the risk level from medium to high after increasing it from low to medium the day before. The measure was taken as of May 7.
A virus was detected in a woman’s body, and by May 9, 11 new cases had already been registered in Sulan.
Each of the infected is a family member or a person who has come into contact with the woman.
The provincial government of Chile announced the intensification of epidemiological precautions in Sulan, the imposition of the curfew in residential areas, the closure of non-vital public transport and the closure of schools.
According to the State Health Commission, the number of new infections in China with crisis cases rose to 14 on May 9, a negative record as there have not been as many new cases since April 28.
Another infected city was also identified in Wuhan, central China, which was the original starting point of the epidemic, although there was no example of this for more than a month.
A recent case was also reported in Harbin, Northeast China, the headquarters of Heilongjiang Province, and in Shenyang, the headquarters of Liaoning Province. Shenyang was infected by a 23-year-old man who arrived from Chilin province at Liaoning province headquarters on May 5.
On Thursday, China officially declared the entire country low risk.
In China (excluding Hong Kong and Macao), 83,994 cases were recorded on Sunday night. There were no new deaths from the disease caused by the virus, with 4,637 deaths and 79,144 recovered.
