The British government removed Hungary and Portugal from the list of countries exempt from quarantine on Saturday, writes MTI.

According to the measure, those arriving in England from Hungary and Portugal after four in the morning, five in Central European time, will have to spend two weeks in isolation. The provision also applies to British citizens.

The measure announced by the British government on Thursday extends to England, but even that day the Scottish government and later the Welsh one said they had made the same decision in the case of Hungary. Based on this, those arriving from Hungary to Scotland and Wales must also be quarantined from Saturday dawn. The governments of Scotland and Wales have previously removed Portugal from the list of countries exempt from quarantine.

It is not recommended to travel to Hungary

Meanwhile, the British Foreign Office has also modified its travel instructions for Hungary, stating that it would refuse to visit the British, except in the most necessary cases, based on the assessment of the coronavirus risk situation.

At the same time, the guide emphasizes that the British Foreign Office is not asking Britons already in Hungary to leave immediately, nor to shorten their visit to Hungary.

Under current regulations, visitors from Hungary and Portugal can leave the UK before the end of the two-week quarantine period, but if they stay for two weeks or less, they must be segregated for their entire stay.

Severe punishment for breaking the rules.

Violators of quarantine rules can be fined 1,000 pounds (nearly 400,000 guilders) in England. Affected people are unable to go to work, school, public transport or taxi during the quarantine period.

In order to buy food, medicine and other basic necessities, segregated people can leave their place of residence if they do not have an acquaintance or relative who can make the necessary arrangements to obtain them.

This is an exemption from the prohibition to leave the place of residence if the person needs urgent medical treatment, if he wishes to be present at the funeral of a close relative, if he has to undergo any legal procedure or if he has to leave his place of residence. residence due to an emergency.

In July, the British government drew up a list of countries from which it is possible to enter England without obligation to quarantine. This list was open to those states from which London considered the risk of introducing a coronavirus infection to be low.

The list of exemptions originally included 59 of those countries, including Hungary, but since then the British government has removed several states from the list, most recently the Czech Republic and Switzerland, and previously Serbia.
