The Csongrád-Csanád County Attorney General’s Office has indicted a woman whose 5-month-old son died in January 2018 after receiving a lethal dose of amphetamine.

According to the indictment, the young woman has been using drugs since she was a teenager, which she discontinued during her third pregnancy, but the girl returned to drugs after two months of age.

The woman and her partner, who was also a drug addict, stayed with her at a hotel in Balástya on the afternoon of January 18, 2018, where they also took amphetamines. At 5 p.m., the woman and her partner inadvertently left the powdered drug containing amphetamines in a place where the drug entered the mouth and then into the body of the 5-month-old baby.

A short time later, the boy fell asleep when he woke up crying a few hours later, he was already under the influence of amphetamines, but the woman and her partner had put her back to sleep. The mother thought the baby was crying like a tooth ache and smeared her teeth with toothpaste. The five-month-old died before midnight from drug-induced respiratory failure and other related causes.

The defendant and his partner noticed at night that the baby was not breathing, an ambulance was called, but the outgoing doctor could only determine death. The attorney general’s office accuses the woman of negligent homicide and possession of drugs. Because his partner is in an unknown location, he is surrounded by the county police headquarters. The guilt of the accused will be decided by the Szeged Court. (The prosecutor’s office)
