Only by following the rules can you prevent more people infected with coronavirus and more people dying from the infection, János Szlávik, chief physician at the National Institute of Hematology and Infectious Diseases at South Pest Central Hospital, told MTI. He also spoke about the spread of the disease, the dead, and the message to virus deniers.

The number of new infections is four thousand to five thousand a day, and more and more people are dying from the disease. Many of those hospitalized are elderly, chronically ill, many of whom are admitted to the intensive care unit, explained János Slavik, adding that he considers it important that everyone adhere to the measures taken to prevent the epidemic, but for the elderly and those who suffer from chronic diseases. in particular, regulations apply. The expert advises them not to receive visits in the current situation.

Regarding virus vaccines, he said that the development was enormous, with 4-5 vaccines already registered in the world. In his view, research has been accelerated because effective vaccines against other diseases have previously been tried. The government has decided to purchase several types of vaccines, but will only use one that is safe, effective, and does not pose any danger to humans. He also talked about two American vaccines that claim to be more than 90 percent effective. In this case, adequate protection could be achieved by vaccinating 50 to 60 percent of the population, he said.

John Slavik also pointed out that in the first wave of the epidemic there were relatively few patients and few died, probably encouraging virus deniers to trivialize the epidemic and deny the existence of the virus. The chief physician hopes that as the epidemic in Hungary progresses, fewer and fewer people think that the coronavirus is not dangerous.

Many new vaccines have emerged in recent decades and virus killers have not had the power to prevent people from receiving effective vaccines, said János Slavik, who is confident that explaining to people how the coronavirus vaccination works will not be possible. in the country. for virus scavengers.

According to official data on Saturday, 121 people died from coronavirus in Hungary in 24 hours.
