The Swiss Attorney General’s Office (OAG) has launched an investigation into an alleged terrorist attack over a delay in the southern city of Lugano on Tuesday.

A shop in Lugano has become the site of an alleged terrorist attack on several peopleSaid the Swiss prosecutor.

Police said a 28-year-old Swiss woman attacked two other women in the store with a knife on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The perpetrator grabbed one of his victims by the neck and began to strangle him according to the Swiss newspaper Vosgesmatin, while wounding the other with a knife. One victim suffered a serious but not life-threatening injury, while the other was more easily injured.

According to the Swiss newspaper 20min.ch, the woman shouted Allah, Akbar! At the time of the attack.

As reported by France17, the police did not rule out the terrorist motive.

According to law enforcement agencies in the Canton of Ticino, the author, who is a resident of Lugano, has been arrested. Police are now investigating where the woman allegedly sympathized with the jihadist organization Islamic State.

Matteo Cocchi, the Ticino police chief, said the author was known to the authorities.

Until now, Switzerland has been averted by terrorist attacks like the recent earthquake in several other European countries. In addition, the Alpine state authorities have identified hundreds of inhabitants as threats and extremists who have found themselves in conflict zones.

Two people were recently arrested in Winterthur in connection with the November 2 murder in Vienna, which claimed four lives. And in September, a man referred to in the Swiss press as the Emirate of Winterthur was sentenced to 50 months in prison by the Islamic State for his links to a terrorist organization.
