White House spokesperson Jen Psaki said Saturday that the administration is working to meet the benchmark set by US President Joe Biden of treating everyone with respect, dignity and civilization. In this context, he added that Ducklo had resigned after consulting with the president’s chief of staff, Ronald Klain.

Psaki announced Friday that Ducklo would be suspended for a week without pay. The decision, however, drew strong criticism, and Ducklo eventually announced his resignation, calling his action heinous and saying there were no words to return how embarrassing he felt and how sorry he was for what had happened.

According to Vanity Fair, Ducklo threatened a journalist on the Politico news portal with “destroying” and ruining his reputation. The journalist had previously investigated the relationship between Ducklo and one of the journalists of the American news portal Axios.

After former US President Donald Trump often called the press an “enemy of the people,” his successor, Joe Biden, promised a professional attitude in dealing with members of the press. At Friday’s press conference, Psaki was also reminded of Biden’s earlier announcement that anyone who treats colleagues disrespectfully will be fired. (MTI, BBC)
