The Czech Republic is expected to declare a state of emergency on Monday to strengthen core measures against the coronavirus epidemic, the Health Minister announced at a press conference in Prague on Tuesday, the MTI reported.
Roman primrose justified the declaration of emergency with the deterioration of the epidemiological situation. According to Prymula, by the end of October, hospitals in the Czech Republic could, among other things, run out of capacity if the authorities do not act in time.
The minister has previously noted that if the number of patients needing hospital treatment increases at the rate experienced in recent days, there may soon be problems with segregated beds with ventilators for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
The capacity of health institutions is greatly influenced by the relatively high level of illness of health personnel and the quarantine that affects them.
Said the minister. According to press reports, hundreds of doctors and nurses have already fallen ill.
It is impossible to order hospital emergency preparedness or make hospital care compulsory without declaring a state of emergency.
Added.
Romanian Prymula will present the parameters of the state of emergency in the House of Representatives on Wednesday and the government will also discuss it. Prime Minister Andrej Babis and Interior Minister Jan Hamacek unanimously expressed their support for the Health Minister’s draft. Most opposition parties, on the other hand, oppose the declaration of a state of emergency and see the government’s actions as chaotic.
According to the minister, the new precautions that will be taken in the coming days will not affect the economy.
Basically, we will restrict leisure activities and schools.
Prymula said. Robert plague The Education Minister, after discussing with his colleague, said that Czech secondary schools are also expected to switch to distance education from next week. Universities and colleges have been ordered to do this before. Prymula noted that the Czech government does not plan to close the borders.
Under current rules, the Czech government has the power to declare a thirty-day state of emergency, but its decision is approved or repealed by the lower house of parliament. The possible extension of the state of emergency must already be decided by the House of Representatives.
In the Czech Republic, the number of severe cases that required hospital treatment for coronavirus infection increased rapidly in September. Many fear that in a few weeks there may be a shortage of special hospital beds with ventilators.
According to the latest reports published on the Health Ministry website on Tuesday, more than 800 patients are currently being treated in hospitals, more than four times the number at the beginning of the month. Doctors say the cases of nearly 200 people are considered serious and need a ventilator. The death toll from the coronavirus rose to 620 on Monday.
