Border guards in Letenye captured a human smuggler: A Slovakian man wanted to smuggle his girlfriend who was traveling without papers across the Croatian-Hungarian border and then spend a good holiday in the coastal country.
The 35-year-old and his girlfriend left their home in Slovakia on September 30 for a vacation in Croatia, but they already knew that the woman would not be able to cross the country, which is not yet a member of the Schengen area.

They crossed the Rajka border without any problem, but in Letenye, at passport control, they had already been returned due to the woman’s lack of documents. The couple, however, did not abandon the holidays,
they stopped at the nearest highway exit, hid the woman in the trunk, and in this lineup they again besieged the Croatian-Hungarian border.
However, border guards, at the same Letenye crossing, saw the woman covered with mosquito nets in the trunk.
His partner was indicted for the crime of human trafficking by the Nagykanizsa District Prosecutor’s Office, and the court found him guilty: he was sentenced to eight months in prison for two years. The decision was accepted by both the accused and the prosecutor. (MTI)
