A senior ministry official was arrested

A prosecutor from the Central Ministry detained a senior ministry official on suspicion of a corruption offense. About sixty people participated in the coordinated action of the Investigative Prosecutor’s Office. Searches, searches and seizures at various locations, followed by witness searches and questioning of witnesses and suspects, also yielded results.

According to the announcement of the General Prosecutor’s Office for Central Instruction, the agricultural businessman, who is also dedicated to raising animals, planned to start a new agricultural company this summer with the help of a state grant.

According to the well-founded suspicion, the contractor offered an undue advantage to help win the tender for the investment and the acquisition of land using the contacts derived from the official position of a high official of the ministry.

Due to the hundreds of millions of non-refundable forint that the businessman planned to obtain through the exercise of official influence, the contractor recommended to the ministry official a 5% ownership interest in a successful company. The senior official accepted the offer and acquired the promised stake in the newly established agricultural enterprise.

Reserve Police personnel also participated in the implementation of the action. The prosecution questioned both authors as suspects, ordered their arrest and proposed the imposition of a coercive judicial measure that would affect personal freedom.
