Masked thieves killed a crossbow with Vladimir Marugov, a meat and construction contractor known as the Russian sausage king, at his weekend home near Moscow, Russian news agencies reported Monday. Marugov and his wife were sitting in an outdoor sauna when they were attacked 40 kilometers from Moscow in the village of Anosino in the Istrian district.
The attackers demanded money. The woman managed to escape and defy the police in the house next door, who, however, had already found the dead man when they arrived. According to the Interfax news agency, the car used by the perpetrators was found by the authorities, with masks, gloves and a crossbow with attached arrows. The Russian Commission of Inquiry (SC) has initiated proceedings in this case. According to the Rosia 24 news agency, the main presumption of the investigators was that the thieves had broken into the house through the sauna with the intention of robbing.
Vladimir Marugov owned several successful meat and construction companies.
The SZK announced in the evening that one of the perpetrators of the crime had been apprehended and that his accomplice was circulating. Interfax was informed that the arrested suspect Marugov was the wife of a 49-year-old Kazakh partner of his wife. (BBC / MTI)
