Restrictions remain until March 1
The regulations published in the Bulletin are one of the most important and expected points of this
484/2020 on the second phase of the protection measures to be applied in an emergency. (XI.10) is valid until March 1.
In practice, this means that the protective measures taken in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic will remain in effect: until March 1 instead of February 1. As a result of the government’s decision, with restrictions announced in early November Hungarians must live together for at least 4 months.
The decision is in line with the announcement by Gergely Gulyás, head of the Prime Minister’s Office, on Thursday and then by Viktor Orbán on Friday morning.
The original restrictive measures decree, published on November 10 (now extended by the government), regulates, among other things, the curfew, the ban on meetings, the ban on restaurants and hotels, the ban on events and the ban shopping. at 7 pm closing. There is something that changes
With one of the recently published decrees, the government modified the decree “On the second stage of protection measures to be applied in case of emergency” which contained measures. On Thursday, Gergely Gulyás explained what the government would do in case of the illegal opening of catering units and shops in February.

Until now, it has been possible to impose fines ranging from 100,000 HUF to 1 million HUF, as well as temporary closures lasting from 1 day to a maximum of 1 year.
The government has also toughened up further that after a breach of duty has been established and a penalty has been imposed, the head of the catering unit or a member of the company that operates the restaurant cannot provide hospitality in person or as a member of another company. If, despite the ban, they do so and the police are notified, the operator can be fined between 1 and 5 million guilders.
Wage subsidy: extended
During the emergency, some government decrees on economic protection measures are also modified by the government, which means that wage support measures will continue.

The government published it in a bulletin on Friday night. the declaration of a state of emergency and the entry into force of emergency measures.
The first point states that the government must address the consequences of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic (hereinafter: coronavirus pandemic), which causes a massive disease that threatens the safety of life and property, in order to protect the health and life of Hungarians. the citizens. Declare a state of emergency for the entire territory of Hungary. This decision will take effect on February 8.
It also foresees that the government appoint a prime minister as a member of the government responsible for dealing with the consequences of a coronavirus pandemic, who will be assisted in this work by operational personnel in epidemiological preparation. Emergency measures related to the emergency are provided for in separate government decrees and the government constantly reviews the need for an emergency.
The next point of this decree is to list all the decrees issued during the state of emergency (identifying 70 of them) and their validity will last until March 1.
Border lock: remain
As is customary when making decisions on restrictive measures, the government has also modified its regulations on the temporary reintroduction of border controls. Consequently, the border closure will remain in effect for one more month, until March 1, depending on the current position. These Regulations will enter into force on January 31.
