Keith Raniere, who operated a sex cult similar to a pyramid scheme, was sentenced to life in prison by a New York court on Tuesday. The convict’s 15 victims spoke or submitted written statements to Federal Court in Brooklyn, John Marzulli, a spokesman for the East New York prosecutor’s office, told CNN. One of Raniere’s victims was a 15-year-old girl.
Allison Mack, the actress who played the television series Smallville for ten years until 2011, was not involved in the indictment. He was accused of recruiting sex slaves for Raniere as one of the leaders of the sect through blackmail.
The actress would have been in jail for a long time if her mother hadn’t posted the $ 5 million bond for her, allowing her daughter to defend herself in the open.
