A new era in MÁV, new stops, flights in rail transport

One of the important pillars of the development of fixed-track suburban transport is the greater participation of the existing but not used line sections in passenger transport. One of the decisive and expected steps in the capital is to increase the passenger transport role of the external railway between Angyalföld and Rákos by expanding the route of S72 passenger trains, which previously operated only between Piliscsaba and Angyalföld, from October 25 to Rákos station. As a result, Budapest and its suburbs will not be left out of the calendar for scheduling innovations affecting northern Hungary and the Northern Great Plain, which will take effect on October 25, according to the statement.

Trains that run every half hour from Monday to Friday between Piliscsaba and Rákos run every hour on weekends and only on the Óbuda – Rákos section. S76 flights arriving in the capital via Angyalföld, following the Marcheggi bridge, reach the outer railway. Modern low-floor trains stop at the new stop called Újpalota, near the Drégelyvár street flyover. The modern barrier-free stop allows a transfer on the outer railway, between trains and buses 7, 7E, 8E, 108E, 133E, 277, so that the areas of the capital that can only be reached from Piliscsaba, which currently They only have several transfers and more can be approached with the arrival time. In addition, transfer connections from the Pilis area to Pécel – Gödöllő – Hatvan and Sülysáp – Szolnok will also be improved. The trains offer a completely new track between East Pest and the northern part of Óbuda, the Váci út office hub and the northern part of Budapest city center.

The travel time of the S76 train will be 47 minutes between Piliscsaba and Rákos. Within the capital, trains run between Óbuda and Rákos in 17 minutes and from Újpest to Újpalota in 7 minutes. From Piliscsaba and Óbuda to Esztergom, you can continue on the connecting trains S72, G72, Z72. In Rákos, the railway company offers connections to Pécel – Gödöllő – Hatvan, Sülysáp and Szolnok with trains S60, G60, Z60, S80.

Traffic will start on October 25, the trains at Rákos terminal are temporary, their further direction towards Pécel will be examined according to the Budapest – Hatvan line schedule next year and the commissioning of the KISS motor trains, with the participation of the Budapest Development Center. Our aim is to provide a direct connection from the agglomeration along the Rákospatak via the ring road to the northern areas of Budapest, taking advantage of the renovated infrastructure of the recently renovated Budapest – Hatvan line.

MÁV-START recommends that passengers boarding at the stop exchange tickets online in order to exchange tickets using the MÁV mobile application or the online ticket purchase interface, as there are currently no ticket exchange options in Újpalota . A new type of ticket vending machine at the stop is expected to be available to passengers from March next year. For passengers boarding in Újpalota, of course, it is possible to buy tickets on the train at no additional charge. If the passenger travels from the station with old-type vending machines (push-button) on the Esztergom line beyond Angyalföld on new flights, the ticket must be purchased from the vending machine to Angyalföld and when checking the ticket it must be indicated that he is traveling further afield than Angyalföld. The ticket inspector will supplement the ticket at no additional charge according to the actual trip. Also in this case, MÁV-START offers convenient online ticket purchases that offer a greater discount than automatic purchases.

In addition to the Újpalota stop, which has already been completed, other new stations, such as Pestújhely and Rákosfalva, are planned to be established within the framework of the railway development project.
